Chris Mercieca Yes they are available to all users! You may have to update your app version: Go to your extensions page (chrome:// extensions), toggle on Developer Tools (top right), click Details for Magical, then Update (top left) to update your app.

Oh man. This is amazing, Kate! Game-changer. One question. If I add a variable to the bottom list and I no longer need it, can I delete it?

Tamaryn Tobian They are individual to you! We just don't want to accidentally delete a placeholder that you've used previously in shortcuts. Is the issue that your text variables screen is too long now?

Not necessarily. But I haven't had it very long. I do like to keep menus clean/simple and it would have the capacity to grow out of hand. Also, they're not in any easily defined order-just the order in which they've been added (as best I can tell). Having the option to delete/hide/reorganize with most used at top or have custom added ones alphabetical would help. But I love the use of them. So much potential!

I recently started using the Variables feature. Only today, when attempting to use, it allows me to fill in the Variables and then it will not insert. I have tried this in multiple tools and there appears to be a bug/issue. It was working fine the other day

Olivia De Gracia So sorry you're having this issue! Can you let me know which sites you are inserting on, and do you mind sharing with me the shortcut? Also, if you try editing the shortcut slightly and saving again, does it work? You can also send this info to me over email: kate@getmagical.com

Hello Kate Chen , that new feature is wonderful ! Unfortunatly, when I tried it on my gmail, it doesn't work well. I created my shortcut, add variables in it and save it. Then when I use it, I fill in variables but when I "insert" it, only the shortcut stays in my mail. Did you ever have this problem ? Thank you for your help ! You have all my support from France ;)

Kate Chen Will email you with more info. Appears that it doesn't work in Google (Google calendar, gmail, etc.) with the trigger BUT if you look up the trigger and insert it that way it will work.

Hello Kate Chen and Olivia De Gracia , I finally understand why it didn't work on my Gmail account. I use a lot of shortcuts beginning with @ like "@com" to redirect a person on a special mail address for " please contact our communication services". The @ is the source of the problem and that is why it didn't work : only the shortcuts @com stayed in my e-mail. Without it, I have no problem at all.

Is there a possibility to preset text variables: in that way I can select the preset option: for example if i want to create a template for a patient I see with knee problems: I would like to use a standard text wish I can adjust by clicking: let's say Right or Left side.

Hi, I loved the introduction of text variables. I already added some a while back, but today it isnt giving me that option any more. It just shows the text variables button at the bottom of my macro editor and the word "beta" next to it, then when I click it, it just closes the editing mode of that specific macro and shows me the overview of all of them. Any idea if I am doing something wrong here?

Michiel van Pagee That's a great suggestion! We'll definitely work on supporting shortcuts inside text variable inserts, and that way you can create shortcuts that say right or left side and insert into your placeholder.

When I create a custom variable in a new template, is there a way to allow Magical users to initially create them as something other than plain text style? So after I've triggered my template & typed in the contents of my variable, I'd like the variable's text to show up in a bold font. Currently, after inserting my template into a Gmail email I have to manually highlight the inserted variable's text & change the font style to bold before sending the email.

And when I use the same template in another Chrome-based application I use at work that uses text boxes powered by TINY, it treats all of the variables in my template as locked-down, single objects which then can't be modified at all in the text box. Not sure if that's something w/ how the templates are supported on your end, or on my end w/ the way my company has these text boxes built. Thanks!
